Transfer journey

Hi everyone, I transferred into UW during the winter quarter of my junior year (2026) and am excited to go into my senior year! I came from North Seattle College as a Seattle Promise student, where I also worked in the SP office helping other students with student life and spreading the word about opportunities. I hope to be able to continue that work with current transfer students! I am continuing my studies as a Communication Major, Minoring in BUS and RE. Super excited to join the ambassador team to continue my connections with other students and build more community for transfer students.

Tips & encouragement

I would explore all your options that UW offers and be open to changing majors (if needed) if you really want to attend the University of Washington, the competition can sometimes be a lot or overwhelming, but having a back up plan is helpful. Connect with current students and/or staff and ask all the questions to be able to have sense of what to expect!

Also, if you want to study abroad, go to the info session and just apply! That is what I did my first quarter and got into the program. I chose to only go for half the summer (part A) and that was the perfect amount of time for me. Got to leave in the middle June and experienced Paris for 4.5 weeks and traveled to other countries on the weekends! Aside from being able to learn internationally, I am happy to say I'm coming back with friends, when I went into the program not knowing a soul. I had to get out of my comfort zone but I get to say it was all worth it.

Favorite place(s) on campus

The best place to grab a drink is inside the Henry's Museum! Head down stair to the cafe they have and make sure you grab their punch card to eventually get a free drink!
